The An-Nisa Foundation endeavors to educate, train, and empower rural women to become champions of their health.

About Us

The An-Nisa Foundation was founded by Dr. Sumera Haque as a dedication to her mother, Qamar-an Nisa, who battled a brain tumor and Parkinson’s Disease for 15 years, before ultimately passing away. Growing up in Pakistan and witnessing her mother’s struggle with these ailments ignited Dr. Haque’s passion for access to quality healthcare for women and vulnerable communities.

Improving Women’s Health

Educating rural women about nutrition, hygiene,  reproductive health and breast health to empower them with knowledge to make informed decisions. These efforts lead to early detection and treatment of illnesses, and better management of health conditions.

Community Health

Educating family members to act as health advocates within their communities, spreading knowledge and encouraging others to adopt healthy practices, creating a positive ripple effect.

Breaking Cultural Barriers

Health education will help dispel myths based on cultural beliefs and traditions and will promote healthier practices, encouraging families to support women in seeking medical care. This includes accompanying women to healthcare facilities, ensuring they follow medical advice, and sharing household responsibilities to reduce women’s workload.

Empowerment

Health education will empower women to take charge of their own health, make autonomous decisions, and advocate for their rights, leading to improved self-esteem and better health outcomes.
